Developed and copyrighted by NAMI New Hampshire (National Alliance on Mental Illness), the Connect Suicide Prevention program is a comprehensive public health program based on a social- ecological model to build a safety net in communities around suicide prevention and postvention. This application focuses on Connect eLearning School Personnel Suicide Prevention Training, a self-paced program that replicates the live Connect Suicide Prevention program.
Connect eLearning School Personnel Suicide Prevention Training increases the capacity of professionals and communities to prevent suicide across the lifespan. Connect eLearning School Personnel Suicide Prevention Training uses a public health approach and incorporates evidence-based practices and key elements of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy. The program applies a unique holistic model. The curriculum includes how to identify suicide warning signs and intervene with a person at risk. Building on that foundation, Connect eLearning School Personnel Suicide Prevention Training focuses on the community as a whole and how to work across systems to build a safety net for people at risk.
More than “just training,” the program fosters relationship building and the exchange of resources among participants. The Connect eLearning School Personnel Suicide Prevention Training reflects concepts of a Community Led Suicide Prevention model.
The Connect eLearning School Personnel Suicide Prevention Training is focused on suicide prevention (not postvention) and includes audio and video content, interactive case scenarios, question/answer activities, protocols for different disciplines, and downloadable supplemental materials. The design of the Connect E-Learning is to maximize the experience of a comprehensive systemic approach. Even in an asynchronous environment, the interactive examples and concepts are designed to emphasize interaction not just with the individual at risk, but within and across systems.
The Connect eLearning School Personnel Suicide Prevention Training prioritizes safety for the learner and includes continual prompts for the user to step away from the program and seek help if the material is distressing. It also provides clear information on how/where to access help and assistance.
